HDD was founded in 1994 by Lennart Stridsberg. He was optimizing the surface mounting machines he had developed for MyData Automation and found that the existing servo motors on the market were not good enough. So he invented new ones. Better ones.
The world’s smallest motors
Some 20 years later, HDD still has the most compact electric motors on the market. Our patented Stritorque® technology results in motors with less than half the size of motors with equivalent performance. This fact has put them in many applications.
HDD has a standard range of Servo Motors aimed at all applications in the machine industry.
The motors are available in 90 and 140 mm frame sizes, in a torque range from 1.2Nm to 45Nm, rated 3000 or 6000rpm, wound for 180V to 560V and with a regular shaft, hollow axle or internal coupling. All motors can be supplied with or without brake.
Because of their high power and torque density the motors are excellent in for example robotic applications, compact machine design and they are very well suited for direct drive because of their high torsional stiffness.
There are several applications where HDD motor’s unique properties are crucial for product success. We have developed custom motors together with our customers for many years and in many shapes and sizes.
Examples of custom motors that we have developed are an ultralight wrist motor for an ABB robot, an oil and water cooled motor for Husqvarna’s Prime series professional concrete cutting tools and a fault redundant rudder actuator for Saab Avionics.
